Duties
This is a full-time position and K-5 music is taught three days per week. In addition, J.H. Band, 5th Grade Band, and Chorus are included into this position. The remaining two days of the week consist of one day of substitute teaching and one day of band/chorus lessons or substitute teaching depending on need.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS / WHO SHOULD APPLY? Applicants who have licensure/certification in K-8 music are encouraged to apply. In addition, applicants who have licensure/certification to teach any subject in elementary or J.H. and have a music background or interest and/or have a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply. Applicants who have a substitute teaching license may apply as well. The District is intending to hire a person for the entire school year (or by semester, if hiring by semester is the preference of the selected candidate).
Salary/Benefits
Salary and Benefits are based on the Rankin Association of Teachers Agreement. An additional Band stipend and Chorus stipend exist in the agreement. Please see link Rankin Association of Teachers Agreement.
For candidates without a teaching licensure/certification who possess a substitute license, the District pays $147.90 per day. After 10 consecutive days, the per day amount increases to the daily rate of Step O in the Rankin Association of Teachers Agreement. The per day amount remains the increased amount for the duration of the consecutive work days beyond 10 days.
